Compliments received are documented and shared with a number of Town personnel. Compliments provide feedback to the agency and staff letting us know how we are doing in the community. This documentation will be forwarded to the employee's supervisor, and shared with the employee. A copy is placed in the employees personnel file.
Concerns are always viewed as an opportunity to resolve conflict or reflect upon how we are performing. This information also allows us an opportunity to examine the methods of how were are delivering services, outside of the annual review. Concerns received will be evaluated by a supervisor and will be shared with the Operations Commander.
Those concerns which rise to a level of an Internal Affairs investigations will be reviewed and maybe ordered to be further investigated by the Chief of Police.
Those Internal Affairs Investigators, who are trained in this specific field of investigations, will receive, processes, supervises and controls the investigations order by the Chief of Police, involving Police Department personnel.
The Internal Affairs Investigator ensures that allegations of misconduct made regarding an employee are thoroughly investigated by gathering all pertinent information in a timely and professional manner.
Any person may file a complaint with the department if they feel they have been stopped or searched based on racial, ethnic or gender-based profiling, and no person will be discouraged, intimidated, or coerced from filing such a complaint, or discriminated against because they have filed such a complaint.

Members of the Kenneth City Police Department are prohibited from engaging in racial or other biased-based policing.
Racial or other biased-based policing means the unreasonable use of race, ethnicity, national origin, gender or religion by a law enforcement officer in deciding to initiate an enforcement action. It is not racial or other biased-based policing when race, ethnicity, national origin, gender or religion is used in combination with other identifying factors as part of a specific individual description to initiate an enforcement action.
Any person who believes he or she has been subjected to racial or other biased-based policing may file a complaint with the Kenneth City Police Department Office of Professional Standards. Complaints to the Kenneth City Police Department may be filed in person, by telephone, or by email to the Office of Professional Standards or any on-duty supervisor. All allegations of biased-based policing will be investigated by the Office of Professional Standards and all individuals who file a complaint will receive a written disposition upon completion of the investigation.
All law enforcement officers with the Kenneth City Police Department are required to attend annual racial or other biased-based policing training defined by the agency.
