Members of the public and staff who post, comment, or otherwise submit content to a Kenneth City social media site agree they have read, understand, and agree to the following policy, terms, and conditions.

To better serve its residents, Kenneth City may, at its sole discretion, utilize online user engagement tools and websites, including social media platforms, to provide residents with information in more places and ways than historically available.

Examples of official Town Social Media sites include the official Town Website and official Town of Kenneth City Accounts and Postings on Social Media websites such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Nextdoor, X, Truth Social, and other social media websites.

By posting on any Kenneth City social media platform, you voluntarily participate and take responsibility for your comments, username, and any provided information. This policy applies to all official Kenneth City social media sites, accounts, and platforms.

All content on an official Kenneth City website or social media account —including, but not limited to text, comments, posts, videos, writings, materials, photographs, or other information—shared through any online medium is public and will be retained and subject to disclosure, pursuant to Chapter 119, Florida Statutes and Kenneth City public records policies.

Limited Public Forum and Prohibited Posts

Kenneth City’s social media platforms are designated as Limited Public Forums and are intended for discussions of specific public interest topics raised by Kenneth City. Users are encouraged to keep comments relevant to the topic being discussed.

Kenneth City reserves the right to moderate or remove prohibited posts or comments in a viewpoint-neutral manner if they violate the following guidelines:

Obscene, indecent, or profane language or images.
Threats, condones or promotes violence, hate speech or discriminatory content.
Sales or promotion of commercial services, products, or illegal activities.
Posts that compromise public safety or include sensitive and personal identifying information or other information that is prohibited/exempted from disclosure by Florida’s Public Records Law, such as social security numbers.

Please note: To protect your privacy and the privacy of others, please do not include sensitive personally identifiable information, such as social security numbers. The Town’s website and social media sites should not be considered secure.

Moderation of Prohibited Posts
Kenneth City’s social media platforms aim to maintain a family-friendly environment and prohibits posts and comments set forth above. The City uses moderation tools to filter prohibited posts and reserves the right to remove or hide or block repeat violations of these social media user policies. Social media platforms are not monitored continuously, and anonymity is not guaranteed. If a post is removed, the user may appeal the decision by submitting a written request to the Social Media Administrator, Town of Kenneth City, 6000 54^th Ave N, Kenneth City, FL 33709 phone: 727-498-8948.

Please be specifically advised that any content, including comments, you make or submit to, or on, any online platform may survive deletion, by yourself or others, and the post and information about the posting, including the identity of the account or person posting, may later be retained and/or disclosed.

Any discussions or communication exchanges involving matters that are, or could become, official business or issues of the Town between elected or appointed members of the same council, board or committee may be subject to Florida’s Sunshine Law should take place at a duly noticed public meeting rather than on social media.

Kenneth City is not responsible for content or accuracy of external links shared on its social media platforms. Links to external sites do not constitute endorsements. Opinions expressed by the public do not reflect official City views or policies.

Ownership and Intellectual Property
All content created and shared by Kenneth City on its social media platforms is the property of the City. Unauthorized use of the Kenneth City seal or logo is prohibited without written permission. Copyrighted, proprietary, or attorney-client privileged information must not be posted.

Privacy of Children
Kenneth City adheres to the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and does not knowingly collect information from children under age 13.

Waiver of Liability
It shall be the policy of the Town of Kenneth City that this Social Media Policy be posted on the official Town website and the following statement should be posted on each official Social Media Account established and maintained by the City of Kenneth City:

“This is a limited public forum. Prohibited posts and comments are subject to removal by the administrator of this account. If you don't comply with the posting guidelines, an administrator may contact you or your message may be removed. Do not use this forum to report emergency situations or time-sensitive issues. By posting, all users and individuals release and hold harmless the Town of Kenneth City, its employees, and officers from any liability arising from their use of City social media platforms. Users accept all terms outlined in this policy.”

Use of Non-Official Social Media by Elected, Appointed Officials and Town Staff
If you are an elected or appointed Town official or Town Staff and you publish content on any website outside of the Town’s social media and it has something to do with the work you do or subjects associated with the Town, use a disclaimer such as this:

“The postings on this site are my own personal views and don’t represent the Town of Kenneth City’s official positions or opinions.”
